The HON Company receives first ever Indoor Advantage™ Gold certification on Accomplish™ classroom furniture

The HON Company’s Accomplish™ line of classroom furniture is the first school product to be certified Indoor Advantage™ Gold standard for indoor air quality. Products achieving Indoor Advantage Gold met the most rigorous criteria in the USA; California 1350 which set emission limits for public schools.

“We are excited to offer the first line of school furniture that has been awarded the Indoor Advantage Gold certification for air quality safety. This certification represents the new standard for air quality testing. Air quality is a major concern among school administrators,” said Jim Kane, vice president of business development for The HON Company. “By receiving the Indoor Advantage Gold standard parents, educators and superintendents can rest assured that Accomplish classroom furniture has undergone the most comprehensive testing available today.”

Indoor Advantage™ certification is administered by SCS (Scientific Certification Systems) of Emeryville. CA. The certification relies on data collected through small chamber testing, which allows manufacturers to examine a product’s individual components. Indoor Advantage™ Gold meets USGBC LEED criteria for EQ4.5, EQ4.1, and EQ4.2, as well as standards for California 01350 and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools. The Indoor Advantage™ Gold program has the added benefit of being health-driven; it is based on Chronic Reference Exposure Levels set by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, rather than Total VOCs and Threshold Limit Values (TLVs).
