WEIRD WEDNESDAY: Why sit when you can hover?

Move over, Han Solo desk; there’s a new gizmo in the workplace. This gravity defying chair from Sussex, UK-based Hoverit Ltd. is a Star Wars inspired Lounger (based on the movie’s Landspeeder vehicle) that uses “repelling magnetic forces in both the bed and base this contemporary lounger” to keep the chair suspended in air.

From the company’s Web site:

The sensation that you feel as you lay back and close your eyes is totally different, like floating on a cloud.

Four types of Lounger are available, each having different shaped holes in the seat part: circular, hearts, droplets or slots. Whether inside or out, the entire lounger can be easily moved with the aid of small castor wheels in the base.

So if you’d rather hover than sit, get ready to cough up a tidy sum. The Lounger carries a $9,800+ price tag, which may weigh down some potential customers.
