Waiting for the bus isn’t usually much fun. Thanks to interactive bus shelters featuring a touch screen soccer game, however, the waiting may not be the hardest part of some San Francisco commuters’ days.

The Major League Soccer (MLS) San Jose Earthquakes and Avaya Stadium have found a way to keep transit riders engaged and entertained from stop-to-stop. From May 11 and ending June 28, bus stops scattered throughout the city have featured interactive bus shelters that incorporate gaming and soccer into a fun way to pass the time.

Soccer fans can play the interactive digital game by participating in a game deciding shootout, powered by Clear Channel Outdoor’s interactive transit shelter network. As the offensive kicker taking their turn in the shootout, fans use the touch-screen technology to position the angle of the ball and “power-up” for how hard or soft they want to “kick.” By tapping the screen, the fan “kicks” the ball at a defending goalie hoping that their shootout strategy gets their ball to the back of the net! At the end of the game, fans are given a chance to share their experience and get entered into a weekly giveaway of two tickets and Avaya Stadium tour.
