This professional/technical position is responsible to manage/oversee the municipal operating facilities in the City of Melbourne, including building systems, structures, interiors and exteriors of buildings for efficient, reliable, safe and secure buildings. There are 8 tradespeople, a Facilities Supervisor, and Clerical Assistant in the division. A successful candidate will be experienced in Facilities Operations and Maintenance, Project Management, Finance and Business, Leadership and Strategy.
Graduation from a high school or trade school, and two (2) years of related college course work, professional certifications and/or training in facility maintenance, project management, mechanical engineering, or related fields. Five (5) years’ recent experience as a supervisor or manager in Facilities Operations within a public, private or military organization of similar size. Five (5) years’ recent experience preparing technical specifications for building maintenance and operating equipment in a large organization across a wide variety of building environments. Five (5) years’ recent experience in current and long term budgeting responsibility. Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office and industry specific software programs. Demonstrated proficiency in the production and utilization of Facilities performance and financial data to analyze and manage operations. Demonstrated ability to perform duties with a focus on customer satisfaction.
$54,994 - $62,220 with an excellent benefits package.

Highly responsible managerial, technical and administrative work directing, coaching and leading a large, decentralized work force responsible for planning, operating and maintaining Palm Beach County’s buildings and grounds including those occupied and operated by the Sheriff, judiciary and constitutional officers. Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and leads through subordinate managers and supervisors, a wide variety of building operations and maintenance functions including preventive maintenance, repairs, minor modifications, energy management, building automation systems, custodial, grounds, pest control and general operations. Work involves the application of customer oriented, professional, technical and managerial skills regarding various facility management issues. Represents the Facilities Development and Operations (FD&O) Department on all customer service delivery issues and complaints. Coordinates capital and operating budget preparation; manages several large service contracts; develops County-Wide, Departmental and Divisional policies and procedures. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities Development and Operations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Business Administration, Engineering, Facilities Management or related field; minimum of eight (8) years of non-residential facilities management experience including three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory and management experience in the field of facilities maintenance and management for a large-scale government, industrial, institutional or corporate entity.
