ASCO 7000 SERIES Power Transfer Switches

Automatic transfer switches available in four transition modes support applications across industries

ASCO Power Technologies, provider of critical power solutions, continues to expand the capabilities of its ASCO 7000 SERIES Power Transfer Switches. Electrical power interruption or loss can result in hardships, financial losses, or dangers to life and safety. These Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) reliably transfer critical loads to emergency power sources.

power transfer switchesHigh-speed transfer of loads between alternate sources of power, regardless of ampacity, is achieved using a field-proven solenoid operating mechanism. When combined with a programmable microprocessor controller with keypad and LCD display, ASCO 7000 SERIES Power Transfer Switches offer the most advanced method of transferring all types of loads, such as motors, electronic drives, UPS’s, and microprocessor-based systems.

The ASCO 7000 SERIES are rated up to 600VAC for 30 through 4000 amps and come in four transition modes. Open Transition mode offers straightforward “break-before-make” switching that serves a wide variety of applications. Delayed Transition avoids large inrush currents by providing time for motors to slow and inductive loads to decay. Closed Transition overlaps power sources for “make-before-break” switching that avoids momentary power interruptions. Soft Load simultaneously ramps down power from the original source and ramps up power from the alternate source. Additionally, switched or overlapping neutral options provide for more accurate operation of ground fault protection systems and reduction of voltage transients from unbalanced load switching.

Available in Standard, Bypass-Isolation, and Service Entrance configurations, the ASCO 7000 SERIES offers flexible designs that meet site-specific needs and simplify deployment. Enclosure options enable reliable operation in indoor, outdoor, and corrosive environments, and ASCO accessories provide value-added features for switching and communication functions. Every ASCO 7000 SERIES power transfer switch is listed to UL 1008 to ensure robust and reliable operation.

“ASCO 7000 SERIES has the flexibility to supply custom I/O solutions …. ASCO was the only vendor that could provide an interface to remotely connect I/O with our customer’s existing switches from other manufacturers,” says Alan Koch of Curtis Engine.

ASCO 7000 SERIES switches can supply information to common building management systems, power management systems, the Schneider Electric EcoStruxure™ system, or ASCO’s own PowerQuest Critical Power Management System. These tools streamline operation, automate regulatory compliance, and provide operating detail for real-time and forensic assessments of power events and conditions.
