HON Furniture First Company to be Certified by Third Party for Emissions

The HON Company was recently recognized as the first furniture company to have its products certified by the SCS (Scientific Certification Systems) Indoor Advantage program in accordance with the recently released BIFMA (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association) X 7.1 furniture emissions standards.

Products achieving Indoor Advantage Gold have met what is widely considered the most rigorous criteria for indoor air quality in the U.S. Several HON products have received this certification, including the F3 seating line, 7800 seating line, Pillowsoft seating line, all metal storage products and the Accomplish line of classroom furniture. The Indoor Advantage certification program provides a compliance path for achieving the LEED EQ Credit 4.5, which addresses emissions from systems furniture and seating.

The environmental benefits of The HON Company’s dedication to excellence are widely recognized. In 2004, The HON Company was awarded GSA’s Evergreen Furniture and Furnishings Award and USEPA’s Pollution Prevention Award. And in 2005, HON was recognized for contributions to USEPA’s Lean and the Environment Tool Kit.
