International Roofing Expo: A reason to go to Vegas in February

Offering a fully accredited multi-track educational program that encompasses the gamut of roofing industry topics, the 2006 International Roofing Expo will be held Tuesday, February 14 through Thursday, February 16 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

With 50 sessions, the conference program features a curriculum of 20 technical sessions, six workplace safety sessions, 22 business-related sessions (including four dedicated courses for superintendents and foremen), as well as two spouse sessions plus optional spouse tours.

“We designed our continuing education program to focus on areas that are changing the roofing industry, bringing attendees up to speed in the areas that matter most to them,” said Rick McConnell, Vice President. “The great additions to this year’s conference make the 2006 International Roofing Expo an even more effective business-to-business event.”

Key business-related sessions include, “Roofing Warranties and Liabilities,” “Collaborative Selling Skills,” “Swiss Army Knife for Retirement Planning,” and “The Roofing Selling Puzzle: How to Overcome Low-Ball Competition.”

Noteworthy technical sessions include, “Green (Garden) Roofs—The Contractor’s Primer,” “Metal Roofing: The Devil is in the Details,” “Understanding UL Testing and Certifications for Roofing Materials and Systems,” “Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Open Forums,” and “Technical & Design Observations from the Field Experts.”

Notable workplace safety sessions include, “Winning Ways with Cross Cultural Crews,” “Fall Protection: Awareness Training,” “Asphalt Fumes: Latest Developments and Possible Industry Impacts,” and “NIOSH Silica Hazard Review Update.”

Designed to help attendees excel in their business, 47 of the 50 sessions have been registered for Roof Consultants Institute [RCI] Continuing Education hours [CEHs] and for the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System [AIA/CES] learning units [LUs]. In addition, 30 courses have been approved by Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Construction Industry Licensing Board [Education Provider No. 0003200].

Top-notch industry experts presenting cutting-edge sessions include Hubert Dudley, Stan Graveline, Thomas Hutchinson, Rob Haddock, Jerry Iselin, Joseph Jenkins, Dwayne Sloan, Dick Gillenwater, Bill Kirn and Ken Buchinger.
