Purchasing predictions for renovated or new facilities

TFM is currently conducting a survey of facility professionals to track their purchasing behaviors. The survey, which looks at product attributes, factors of influence, budgets, and purchasing schedules, will be used as the basis for TFM‘s September special report on Modernization and New Construction. It will also illustrate the importance of facility manager involvement in the very earliest stages of product planning.

Current results show that an overwhelming majority of respondents (82%) are involved in the preparation of these budgets; a slightly higher number of respondents (83%) indicated that “maintainability” was the most important factor in product selection. Products in the furnishings category (including storage and refurbished furniture) appeared to be highest on the list of future purchases, although plumbing and rest room equipment also had strong showings. In terms of big ticket purchases, HVAC systems were most frequently mentioned.
