Sanitation Checklist For Food Manufacturing Equipment

Keeping equipment properly sanitized and clean is essential for maintaining the trust consumers have in today’s modern food manufacturers.

Unless they prepare meals from start to finish with their hands, people today have to trust in food manufacturers and processors. Consumers want to be assured that the food they buy and take home to their families has been prepared using the proper and appropriate processes. Now that there is greater sensitivity to the issue of food allergies, it’s even more important for food manufacturers and processors to adhere to the highest standards of food safety and sanitation in their facilities.

Nothing is more important for a food manufacturer or processor than gaining and keeping the trust of consumers. Even a single violation in a facility can have lasting repercussions. Failing an inspection not only can result in costly downtime and fines, but it also can affect a manufacturer’s reputation — a hit from which it may be difficult to recover. No plant manager wants to be responsible for an outbreak of contamination caused by failure to follow good manufacturing practices, which means following the proper procedure for sanitizing equipment on the production floor is of the utmost importance.

Keeping modern food manufacturing equipment clean and sanitized after each use is far too important to take shortcuts. However, strict adherence to the standard operating procedures as well as the equipment manufacturer’s specifications can be difficult because of how complicated the processes can be. That’s why the following checklist can be useful for facility managers — it provides step-by-step reminders of all procedures that must be followed each time the equipment is cleaned and sanitized.

Keeping the following checklist, courtesy of Meyer Industrial, in a visible spot near equipment can be an effective means of reminding operators of all the steps they must take as part of the sanitization process. Although the process is complicated and exhaustive, the consequences for not following it can be far worse. Keeping equipment properly sanitized and clean is essential for maintaining the trust consumers have in today’s modern food manufacturers.

  1. This is a great list to give someone that wants to understand the industrial sanitation service. Having a company that will be making sure that all of the equipment is clean is key. My fiance would like knowing this as he looks into this service.
