Dri-Design Wall Panels Bridge New And Old

The exterior of a building addition to the Rock Hill Law Center in Rock Hill, SC features the Embossed wall panel system from Dri-Design.

Challenging police work can be even more cumbersome when operating from offices the size of closets and without the proper technology. An expanded Rock Hill Law Center changed these work conditions for the municipal staff in Rock Hill, SC. The space’s new look was completed with the Embossed wall panel system from Dri-Design, with the aim of bridging the original structure to the addition.

“The metal achieved a complimentary transition between the existing building’s precast wall panels and the new expansion’s decorative split-faced block that was used,” says Ivan Mccorkle, LEED AP BD+C, transportation project manager for the city of Rock Hill.

Architect Little Diversified Consulting Inc., Charlotte, NC, used the metal panels as a focal point around the entrance of the building to welcome visitors to the center. Achelpohl Roofing, Prosperity, SC., installed 694 square feet of the wall panels in Bone White. Embossed Panels allow a three-dimensional accent to be created in almost any shape or feature.

The metal panels were selected because they are a low-maintenance product with a variety of color options. The design team and city officials believed they were the right selection to add a fresh feel to the building and complement metal features on the structure, such as new signage.

The $1.7 million addition at the Rock Hill Law Center houses administrative offices for the chief of police, professional standards unit and support services major. A large multi-purpose training room, meeting/conference rooms and additional restrooms also were included.
