Massive earthquake (7.6) hits Pakistan and surrounding area

More than 40,000 people are feared dead after an earthquake and its numerous aftershocks hit 60 miles north of the Pakistani city of Islamabad. Details can be found here.

Focus on the Kashmiri quake has prompted discussion of “the big one” along California’s Hayward Fault.
