Every year, architects and engineers compete to see which team can build the most spectacular structure using little more than cans of food at Canstruction, an annual design and build competition in New York City. After the competition is over, the cans are donated to a charitable food bank.

The exhibit runs from 11/10/2011 to 11/21/2011, and it’s on display at the
World Financial Center Winter Garden from 10 am to 6 pm daily. The public is invited to bring canned foods to donate to City Harvest when viewing the exhibition.

Here are a few of the winning entries in last year’s NYC Canstruction competition:

  1. Saw the exhibit today – wow each year it gets better and better – This year they even had a group of Kids from Eleanor Roosevelt High School competing – What a fun way to raise hunger awareness

  2. This is really interesting event! ASM Design is providing LIVE, behind-the-scene coverage of the 2011 event at the World Financial Centre, NYC. The structures are almost complete now!
