The Gen-Ear LE™ from General Pipe Cleaners is a simplified, economical water leak locator with stronger sound amplification than other systems. It is effective in pinpointing water leaks in commercial or residential lines, even when concealed by concrete slabs, walls, swimming pools, or hot tubs.
The handheld, compact amplifier provides noise-free amplification with built-in preset audio filters that eliminate the need to guess which settings should be used. High-performance headphones with noise cancellation features block out interference from ambient noise.
The acoustic ground sensor listens for the gurgling or hammering of water escaping from a cracked pipe under concrete, asphalt, or tile. Probe rods are used for soft surfaces such as grass or carpet, and the magnetic attachment is suited for above ground pipes or hydrants. For especially hard to find leaks, the sound-amplification module (SAM) adds air to the line, increasing the water pressure, which amplifies the leak sounds making them easier to locate.
A safety button in the amplifier mutes sudden loud noises when the button is released. Two AA batteries power the Gen-Ear LE system for 20 or more hours. To extend battery life, the system automatically shuts down when headphones are removed, and the power light blinks to indicate when batteries are low.
