Are you attracted to steel? Do you like to take selfies? If so, the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has a contest that’s just perfect for you.

They’re inviting steel fans to show their love – on Instagram! AISC is launching a “Steel Selfie” Instagram contest for industry professionals and college students. Prizes will be awarded each month.

The contest coincides with the introduction of AISC’s new Instagram account (@aisc), which was recently launched in Nashville, TN at NASCC: The Steel Conference.

Here are the official rules:

To enter the contest, simply snap a photo of yourself with someone or something related to structural steel and upload it to your Instagram profile. If you’re involved in the structural steel industry, tag your photo with #SteelSelfieContest; if you’re a student, tag it with #SteelSelfieContest #Student. Then share your photo with friends! To vote for your favorite steel selfies, visit at www.aisc.org/steelselfievoting.

Each month, 10 contest winners (five industry winners and five student winners) will be selected based on the number of “likes” their photo receives on Instagram. Winners will be contacted via Instagram and receive a $10 gift card to their choice of one of the following vendors: Amazon, Chipotle, or Starbucks.

While some people believe the Eiffel Tower is made of steel, it is actually made from wrought iron. So sadly, an image like this would not be eligible for the contest.

Because the judges want to see as much structural steel in your photos as possible, as long as you’re in the photo (even if you didn’t take it), they will still consider it a selfie.

By participating in the Steel Selfie Contest, each entrant irrevocably grants AISC a non-exclusive, unlimited, worldwide, perpetual, royalty free, transferable license and right to use and authorize the use of the entrant’s submission and any other material or information in connection with the Contest for purposes of advertising, trade and other commercial purposes.
