Solatube International Inc., manufacturer of Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDDs), recently introduced a Daylight Dimmer for its SkyVault Series. The SkyVault Series, featuring a large TDD (29″ diameter) was specifically designed for high-bay commercial applications, including convention centers, warehouses, auditoriums, sports arenas, manufacturing facilities, gymnasiums, and hotel ballrooms/meeting spaces.
The company points out that while SkyVault’s main purpose is to provide an abundant amount of daylight to large spaces or direct it for task lighting, there are instances where dimming capabilities are needed, such as presentations, movies, plays, concerts, and dramatic effect (bringing in a sports team).
The new Daylight Dimmer features: Solatube’s patented butterfly baffle designed to ensure even light distribution throughout the space; reduced “flares” when opening/closing; near total blackout when fully closed; and is lined with the company’s Spectralight Infinity material to maximize light transfer when open.
The SkyVault Series and Daylight Dimmer can be fully integrated into virtually any 0-10V digital lighting control system, working both in conjunction with and separately from electrical lighting.
