Kantech KT-1 is a scalable access control solution for use on EntraPass software editions v6.02 and higher. Part of the TycoIS (Tyco Integrated Security) small business value line, it is a single entry IP controller available in two configurations: the KT-1 is single gang mount for typical door installations and the KT-1-PCB is cabinet mount for traditional security cabinets. They support multiple card technologies and readers that communicate over the Wiegand protocol (e.g., proximity, barcode, magnetic).
KT-1 is a one door IP controller that supports two readers (IN/OUT) to show both who enters and leaves the premises; programming is accomplished by naming the door and assigning it to a site. The controller provides flexible power input with Power over Ethernet (PoE), PoE+, or 12 VDC. It features LED communications and relay status indicators for views of network activity, power status, and outputs.
KT-1 can be installed with a removable terminal clip and connects directly from an Ethernet PoE-injector or PoE-switch to the EntraPass system. The entire configuration, as well as the programming of the KT-1 controller onto the EntraPass security management software, is done via a single “K” shield touch-sensitive button. Users hold the button for six seconds and the controller enrolls onto the EntraPass software through automatic device detection. This one button is also used to enroll additional controllers, display controller status LED’s, and can act as a request to exit function.
Hundreds of KT-1 controllers can be connected in one system and a single KT-1 controller can also act as a “head IP controller” to link 31 additional controllers under one IP connection in EntraPass. This configuration will allow each KT-1 to have their own individual IP address but only communicate to EntraPass via the first IP controller. This reduces the amount of IP connections needed back to EntraPass and reduces set up time.
KT-1 is based on the existing KT-400 controller firmware and is compatible for use alongside the entire Kantech KT controller range. Features include multi-swipe functionality, extended door unlock times, and support for 100,000 cardholders.
KT-1 uses 128-bit AES encryption, which communicates directly to EntraPass, preventing the threat of Internet hacking and compromised security. Used in conjunction with EntraPass, KT-1 is compatible with EntraPass Web and EntraPass Go mobile applications for remote access.
The KT-1-PCB controller version can be connected directly to DSC PowerSeries or MAXSYS alarm panels for intrusion integration. Using this controller, EntraPass Special, Corporate, or Global Editions are able to receive intrusion events, view the status of zones and partitions, and program user code. In addition, the system can be armed/disarmed (single or multiple partitions) via the reader or manual operation from the workstation.
KT-1 is suitable for small and large applications, such as IP centric buildings, large footprint facilities, and large systems with remote sites. The KT-1 plastic housing measures 5.1″ H x 3.4″ W x 1.8″ D and weighs 10.8 ounces. The KT-1-PCB measures 5.4″ H x 4.8″ W x 1.9″ D and weighs 13.9 ounces. Each has an operating temperature of 35°F to 104°F with an operating humidity of 0% to 95% non-condensing.
