The DeltrexUSA Electromagnetic Lock series includes three models—the 806 Series, 810 Series, and 825 Series. They consist of an armature and a coil assembly, which become magnetized when an electric current passes through them. When the magnet is energized, it bonds to the armature and locks the door. To allow access or egress, a switch must be provided to de-energize the magnet. To unlock the door, users simply remove the power.

electromagnetic lockAn Electromagnetic Lock is used to secure a door in conjunction with push bars, request-to-exit devices, or credential readers. It uses magnetic force and thus does not require a mechanical latch bolt to lock the door. Fail-safe by design (i.e., if the power goes off, the door will be unlocked), the Electromagnetic Lock needs a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to remain locked during power failure.

Fail-safe operation makes the Electromagnetic Lock suitable for emergency exits, fire doors, or openings where the exit must be controlled by single standalone doors. In case of emergency, they automatically release the doors upon power cutoff, alleviating concern over not being able to open the door due to mechanical failure. Electromagnetic Locks are also solutions for doors that require a basic and/or inexpensive level of security and access control as well as for glass doors that need to electronically control special access features/functionality. They can provide a delayed egress of 15 or 30 seconds and are capable of working with access control systems that offer access and egress.

The 806 Series Electromagnetic Lock has a 650-pound holding force, the 810 Series has a 1,200-pound holding force, and the 825 Series has a 1,500-pound holding force. Each is comprised of three basic components: a lock housing, an electromagnetic coil, and an armature. The coil and housing assemblies mount rigidly to the doorframes while the armatures mount to the doors in a manner that allows them to pivot slightly to compensate for door irregularities. The Electromagnetic Locks are a fit for low security applications and are available with an array of options.
