Viking SR-IP SIP Audible & Visual Ring Indication

PoE powered audio device for SIP VoIP phone systems

The SR-IP from Viking Electronics is an audio device for providing audible and visual ring indication for SIP (session initiation protocol) VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) phone systems. This loud ringer notifies employees of incoming calls and visitors with traditional ringing sounds, doorbell tones, and/or a flashing LED.

ring indication“The SR-IP adds loud ringing to VoIP SIP phone systems, and being a SIP device itself means interfacing with the phone system is simple,” said James Catt, Engineer, Viking Electronics

The SR-IP is a loud ringing and visual indication device that works over hosted and on-premise VoIP SIP phone systems. When the SR-IP is activated by an incoming call, it will produce a loud ring or door chime sound up to 93 dB SPL (sound pressure level). Users set the ring volume and choose a tone using Viking’s PC-based programming software. Users download the software from www.VikingElectronics.com, assign the SR-IP a static IP address, and access programming features from anywhere with an Internet connection.

When registered with a SIP server, the SIP compliant ring indication device will ring in one of four programmable ring patterns— Normal (two seconds on / four seconds off), Double, Short-Short-Long, or Short-Long-Short. It will also flash a bright red LED upon ring detection (if this mode is on). For especially noisy environments or applications that require visual indication, the SR-IP comes equipped with a 2 Amp SPDT (single pole double throw) relay. This relay can be used to trigger Viking models BLK-4 and/or SL-2 strobe lights, or trip additional loud ringers like the SR-1.

The SR-IP loud ringer is suitable for noisy or variable noise environments (e.g., offices, classrooms, factories) while the visual ring indicator alone is suitable for quiet area applications (e.g., hospitals, churches, theaters).

Equipped with a high efficiency Class D power amplifier and high quality loudspeaker, the SR-IP is typically over 10 times louder than a telephone speaker. The advanced features of the SR-IP include programmable Automatic Gain Control (AGC) technology, which automatically adjusts ring volume to compensate for background ambient noise. If AGC is enabled, the ring volume will get louder or quieter by the same dB level as the ambient noise measured just prior to the extension ringing. The AGC feature is suitable for variable noise environments and ensures that ringing is always heard but not unnecessarily loud.

The SR-IP has a single RJ-45 network connection, is PoE powered, and acts as a third-party SIP endpoint device. Users can program the SR-IP to activate when a specific number is called to notify a floating employee. Alternatively, users can add the SR-IP into a call group to announce an incoming call to the warehouse manager after office hours.

The SR-IP surface mounts to a single gang box (not included), a standard 4″ x 4″ electrical junction box (not included), or directly to a wall or flat sided post. The ring indication device measures 5.5″ x 4.5″ x 1.5″ with an operating temperature range of -40°F to 140°F, 5% to 95% humidity non-condensing.
