Alliance For Workplace Excellence Awards 54 Companies

These annual awards recognize companies for their actions that deliver on improving workplace wellness, sustainability, and diversity.

The Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE) recently announced the recipients of its 2017 AWE Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval, Health & Wellness Seal of Approval, EcoLeadership Award, and Diversity Champion Award. A total of 54 employers are being recognized for exemplary commitment to building excellent places to work in Montgomery County, MD and throughout the United States. AWE will present the awards at luncheon today, June 9, 2017, at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center in Maryland.workplace wellness

AWE is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1999 by Montgomery County, MD and Discovery Communications. The Alliance focuses on empowering employers to build excellence in the workplace as a means of supporting the quality of life for employees, their families, and the community at-large. Workplace wellness, sustainability, and diversity are core focuses.

This year marks the 18th year that AWE will recognize excellence in the workplace. The award-winning organizations represent entities of all sizes and in all industry types from across the United States. This year, AWE is recognizing:

  • 47 companies with the Excellence Seal of Approval;
  • 36 companies with the Health & Wellness Seal of Approval;
  • 21 companies with the EcoLeadership Award; and
  • 12 companies with the Diversity Champion Award.

Three employers are noted for their exceptional commitment to providing Best Practices Supporting Workers of All Abilities. Those employers are: Discovery Communications, LLC, Marriott International, and Montgomery County (MD) Government. These organizations exhibit a workplace culture that is continuously supportive of a diverse and inclusive workforce, especially of workers of all abilities, states AWE.

All award recipients undergo a rigorous assessment process led by an independent review panel of business professional and master’s and Ph.D. level students in the fields of business, industrial and organizational psychology, human resources, environmental science, public health, and diversity and inclusion. The theme for this year’s event is “Continued Care & Commitment to Workplace Excellence during Times of Change.”
