Aerobie AeroPress Coffee Maker

Produces rich, flavorful coffee with no bitterness and very low acidity

The AeroPress® from Aerobie® is a coffee maker that brews in a new way. In under a minute, it produces up to three cups of coffee or espresso that is richer, smoother, and lower in acidity than coffee brewed by conventional devices.coffee maker

The AeroPress was invented by Alan Adler, founder and president of Aerobie, Inc. Before he invented the AeroPress, Adler spent two years studying the science of coffee brewing. “It turns out that short is sweet,” he explained. “A rapid process produces rich flavor without the bitterness so common in your daily cup.”

The AeroPress uses gently compressed air for brewing and is easy to clean (a quick, light rinse is all it takes). Tough and durable, a fall from the counter will not damage this compact and lightweight coffee maker that can be stored in a small office kitchen.

coffee makerShorter brewing time is one critical factor that determines coffee flavor; full immersion of coffee grounds in the water is another. “Most coffee makers pass hot water through a bed of coffee. In the AeroPress, the water and grounds are stirred together which permits very efficient flavor transfer,” Adler explained. “The AeroPress process yields coffee with only one fifth the acid level of ordinary drip brew. So AeroPress brew is not just richer and smoother, it’s also healthier and friendlier to your stomach.”

To use the AeroPress, users place it atop a mug, add coffee and hot water, and stir for 10 seconds. Then they gently push down on the plunger to compress the air, forcing the brew through a filter and into the cup. The whole brewing process takes less than a minute. After brewing, users eject the spent coffee into the trash and rinse the plunger. The press chamber itself is self-cleaning and the micro filter means there is no grit in the cup (unlike a French press). The AeroPress makes one to three cups per pressing.

The AeroPress is available with a zippered nylon tote bag that makes it easy to travel with the coffee maker and a bag of coffee.
