Ruskin Critical Environment Dampers

The CD50CE and TED50CE withstand coastal and corrosive applications

The CD50CE and TED50CE from Ruskin® are critical environment dampers designed and manufactured to withstand the elements of coastal and corrosive applications. They combine the strength of stainless steel and protection of anodized aluminum to combat saltwater elements.

“Our reps can now easily select a damper model with features suitable for coastal or corrosive applications,” said Mike Coyazo, commercial and life safety product manager at Ruskin. “Stainless steel linkage and anodized aluminum frames and blades come standard in these new models, making them perfect for harsh applications where salt water is present.”

CD50CE

The CD50CE is Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) licensed as Class 1A and, thanks to low-leak extruded aluminum, meets the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC); it leaks less than 3 cfm/sq. ft. at 1″ of static pressure. The damper features low-maintenance, non-corrosive bearings and shake-proof linkage; airfoil blades for high-velocity heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, low pressure drop, and quieter performance; and mechanically-fastened blade edge seals.

The CD50CE frame has a 5″ x 1″ 6063T6 high yield extruded aluminum hat channel with .125″ minimum wall thickness. There are low profile, 5″ x 1/2″ top and bottom frames on dampers 12″ high and less. Mounting flanges are on both sides of the frame. Blades are 6″ wide, 6063T6 high yield heavy gage extruded aluminum, airfoil shape. Blade seals are Ruskiprene™ extruded, jamb seals are stainless steel compression type, bearings are molded synthetic, and axles are 1/2″ stainless steel hex. Operating temperature is -72°F to 275°F.

TED50CE

The thermal efficient TED50CE eliminates thermal transfer and the potential for condensation. The damper also meets the IECC and features the same non-corrosive bearings and shake-proof linkage as the CD50CE. Each blade has a thermal break that is strategically placed between twin blade edge seals. The twin seals create a neutral zone to ensure there is no thermal path. This eliminates thermal transfer and reduces potential for condensation.

The TED50CE frame is 5″ x 1″ x .125 thick 6063T6 high yield aluminum with anodized finish or 6″ x 1-3/8″ x .125 thick 6063T6 high yield aluminum with anodized finish with optional quick connect “T” flange frame. Blades are 5/64″, 6063T6 high yield aluminum with opposed blade action, thermal break, and anodized finish. Axles are 1/2″nominal hexagonal stainless steel, bearings are dual action polycarbonate internal hex rotating inside an Acetyl Copolymer outer sleeve, blade seals are mechanically fastened ribbed extruded bulb Ruskiprene, and jamb seals are combination compression/ribbed extruded Ruskiprene. Temperature range is 45°F to 185°F.

The CD50CE and TED50CE critical environment dampers are covered under the Ruskin five-year limited warranty program.
