To help cruise lines avoid restroom disasters and maintain guest satisfaction, Sofidel, a global provider of paper for hygienic and domestic use, has introduced a line of Papernet paper products that support ship plumbing systems.
The cruise range includes:
- Bio Tech toilet paper: This toilet paper uses Biologic Active Tissue Paper (BATP) technology to produce enzymes that eat away buildup in pipes. In about four weeks, the product reduces the risk of clogs, and studies demonstrate that Bio Tech can provide total savings of up to 40% compared to standard toilet paper combined with the expense of plumbing emergencies.
- Double Layer Tech toilet paper: Designed for businesses with a high influx of people and limited storage space, Double Layer Tech offers double the resistance at half the cost of traditional toilet paper. Cruise lines can expect tangible savings, as the roll needs to be changed less frequently.
- Dissolve Tech hand towels: These hand towels dissolve in about three minutes if they are accidentally flushed down the toilet, further reducing the risk of clogs. The towels feature strong resistance and high water absorbency capacity during hand drying.
Bio Tech utilizes Biologic Active Tissue Paper technology, a European exclusive. This ship plumbing safe innovative toilet paper contains five different types of microorganisms, each is designed to target the major causes of organic waste build-up in pipes.
When the Bio Tech toilet paper comes into contact with water, the good microorganisms are activated, producing enzymes that feed on the offending organic matter present in the pipes and sewer system. These microorganisms reproduce exponentially and intensify their cleaning action even where it is not possible to intervene chemically or mechanically. The good microorganisms contribute to reducing the bad microorganisms by consuming their food (food antagonism) and further contribute to reducing the surfactants released by detergents in drainage pipes. Once their action is finished, the good microorganisms fully biodegrade, meaning Bio Tech is 100% environmentally friendly. It is dermatologically tested and safe for skin, eyes, and intimate areas of adults and children.
Use of Bio Tech significantly helps keep pipes and sewer systems clean, with results seen in an average of four weeks. The more Bio Tech is used, the more it cleans.
Dissolve Tech has a very high wet strength that ensures the resistance and absorbency of a normal hand towel during hand drying. After three minutes the hand towel’s strength dissipates, making Dissolve Tech behave in a similar way to toilet paper—safe for ship plumbing.
“To help cruise lines reduce customer complaints, costly repairs, and negative publicity related to their restrooms, we’ve designed a lineup of products that meet the specific needs of ships of all sizes,” said Fabio Vitali, Vice President AFH Marketing & Sales for Sofidel America. “It’s essential for managers to invest in restroom paper products that help save space; prevent clogs, odors, and restroom closures; and are sturdy and soft enough to live up to guest expectations.”
