Alert Beacons® from Alertus® sound, flash, and display a message when an emergency notification is dispatched. They are designed to serve campuses, military bases, and other large facilities that presently lack an in-building emergency notification system and where retrofitting a conventional voice public address system is impractical and/or cost prohibitive.emergency notification

Alert Beacons are most effective when wall-mounted in prominent locations (e.g., lobbies, front offices, by elevators) throughout the facility. In the event of an emergency, these audiovisual devices flash and sound to capture the attention of building occupants at a distance (10′ to 15′) while a large text display informs them about the nature of the emergency and instructs them how to respond.

It features unified activation with most other mass notification solutions via Common Alert Protocol (CAP) and open Alertus API. Immediate response is not dependent on congested cell phone towers or the Internet. Redundant communication capable, the Alert Beacon receives notifications from the on-premise server through one or multiple pathways: Ethernet (standard), Wi-Fi, FM radio subcarrier, or RF paging.

emergency notificationNotifications can be sent to all or select Alert Beacons across facilities depending on whether the emergency event is isolated. Targetable activation can be by unit, group, or location and device health monitoring and configuration can be done remotely. AES encryption and proprietary secure protocol between server and Alert Beacons provide security. Secure wall-mount brackets allow for flush or surface mounting or desktop stand.

Compliant to NFPA72-2016, ADA, UFC-MNS, OSHA, FEMA, and FCC standards, the Alert Beacon measures 7.2″ x 5.9″ and is made of a high impact ABS polycarbonate blend. It measures 7.2″ x 5.9″ and provides a battery that automatically recharges for eight to 24 hours of backup. In addition, this emergency notification device is a fraction of the cost of a conventional voice PA system with no recurring fees and consumes less than 5 watts (1/6 of a fluorescent light).
