The 3M™ Speedglas™ 9002NC is a welding helmet from 3M Personal Safety Division. It combines the best features of the Speedglas 9000 with cutting-edge optics and a sleek, modern look—all at a more affordable price.
“For more than 20 years, the 3M Speedglas Welding Helmet 9000 set the standard for rugged, dependable protection,” said Joe Hockett, U.S. Marketing Manager, 3M Personal Safety Division. “By taking one of our classic designs back to the drawing board with real-world user feedback as our guide, we’ve engineered the Speedglas 9002NC to give today’s welders the same dependability and performance that made the 9000 so popular.”
Designed with everyday working conditions in mind, Speedglas 9002NC offers a range of improvements that help users weld with precision and accuracy. It provides improved optics with advanced auto-darkening that adjusts to working conditions for a lighter, brighter, and more realistic view that may allow better control of the weld puddle. In addition, built-in exhaust vents help reduce lens fogging and a slim profile allows more freedom of movement when welding in tight spaces. The welding helmet weighs approximately 1.1 pounds and the shield width is 9.29″.
The Speedglas 9002NC also offers improved comfort and ergonomically designed suspension for a precise fit. The suspension has a smooth ratchet for easy tightening (even while wearing gloves). The welding helmet can be customized with accessories such as magnifying lenses, ear and neck covers, flame retardant hoods, and 3M™ Disposable Respirators.
One respirator option for the Speedglas 9002NC is the 3M™ Particulate Welding Respirator 8212, N95. It provides at least 95% filtration efficiency against certain non-oil based particles. Cake resistant filter layers reduce the caking of particles on the respirator surface. Soft inner material provides added comfort while the cup shape design makes the respirator spacious and durable. The adjustable nose clip reduces the potential for eyewear fogging and the fully adjustable head straps help provide a comfortable and secure seal.
