AXIS Q1941-E Thermal Camera

Outdoor bullet-style camera that supports Electronic Image Stabilization to help reduce the effect of vibrations and Axis’ Zipstream technology to lower bandwidth and storage requirements

An addition to the Q-line of fixed thermal cameras from Axis® Communications, and the flagship for the AXIS Q19 Series, the AXIS Q1941-E is a bullet-style IP thermal camera. Designed for detecting early intrusion attempts in challenging conditions 24/7, it is suitable for perimeter protection of facilities and is outdoor-ready out-of-the-box.

thermal cameraA thermal camera is mainly used for video analytics and detection in restricted areas where no one should trespass or walk around. Based on this premise, the video shows no motion at all, unless an intruder is detected. Supporting Axis’ Zipstream technology, AXIS Q1941-E filters out those areas with no motion, and can focus on the parts of the image that are moving. This reduces the bandwidth and storage required significantly. Zipstream technology analyzes and optimizes the video stream in real time to preserve interesting details and motion with full image quality and resolution, while compressing static areas, such as white walls or vegetation, at a higher rate.

The AXIS Q1941-E thermal network camera also supports Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). This helps reduce the effect of vibrations for smooth live viewing even when the camera is mounted on an unstable surface. EIS is designed to cover a wide range of frequencies and cope with high and low amplitudes. In addition to getting a more useful video, image stabilization improves camera operability, allows for more flexible installation, and reduces the file size, as well as bandwidth and storage use.

The AXIS Q1941-E processor allows it to run video analytics via the AXIS Camera Application Platform (ACAP). ACAP allows the thermal camera to integrate with other existing IP security equipment and with third party applications.

The AXIS Q1941-E offers 384×288 thermal resolution and high image contrast for reliable detection and quick verification. A selection of five different lens alternatives—7 mm, 13 mm, 19 mm, 35 mm, and 60 mm—meet most application requirements. The thermal camera offers 512 MB RAM and 256 MB flash memory as well as a memory card slot (microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC) for storing recordings locally. Password protection, IP address filtering, HTTPS encryption, IEEE 802.1X network access control, digest authentication, user access log, and centralized certificate management provide camera security.

The AXIS Q1941-E measures 13-9/16″ x 5¾”, weighs 4.4 pounds or 4.9 pounds (depending on lens), and has an operating temperature of -40°F to 140°F (10% to 100% humidity, condensing).
