open hardware“We have always believed in open standards for our physical access control system, and lately we’ve heard a growing desire among our customers for an open hardware solution,” said Steve Van Till, President and CEO of Brivo. “Many of our customers have a preference for Mercury hardware, and want to leverage the Mercury training they’ve already invested in their installation teams. We also appreciate the scalability of the Mercury platform, because it extends our reach into more enterprise customer applications.”open hardware

Brivo OnAir is a modern unified security platform that combines access control technology, video surveillance, and mobile credentialing in a unified cloud-based security platform. The company added a mobile solution in 2015 that is compatible with all installed Brivo systems, as well as the newly supported Mercury hardware. OnAir will support Mercury within both new and existing OnAir accounts, and presents the same user interface that Brivo customers already use.

An unlimited number of facilities or doors can be incorporated with OnAir and video and mobile credentials can be added at anytime. A single interface can manage multiple facilities and API integration allows users to customize capabilities and reporting to fit their needs.

Users can access and manage their OnAir system from a desktop, tablet, or smartphone using Brivo’s iOS or Android apps. OnAir for iOS and Android seamlessly extend the access control and video surveillance platform to a smartphone, integrating door control, credential management, and live and recorded video to an intuitive and easy to use application. Administrators can manage building security on the go. The mobile application delivers the most relevant information quickly and concisely, while providing users with the tools they need to respond. Users just download the app and sign in with their Brivo OnAir credentials.

The cyber threat resilient OnAir can be used for such applications as unlocking the front office door with a smartphone; viewing video recordings of the front lobby; and creating customized security reports to share.

The Authentic Mercury platform is the dominant open hardware solution for access control with advanced, industry-leading features that are optimized to meet the full range of customer requirements in today’s dynamic market. The Authentic Mercury open architecture model makes it possible for end-user organizations to choose from access control software providers, both at time of product selection or in the future. Mercury’s approach provides a streamlined path to move organizations from proprietary and/or obsolete systems to an open, flexible and interoperable platform for systematic access control.

“Mercury is pleased to welcome Brivo as a valued Authentic Mercury Partner,” said Matt Barnette, President of Mercury Security. “With Mercury’s proven open hardware and Brivo’s scalable products, we look forward to jointly addressing the market demand for fully interoperable, flexible access control platforms, and cloud-based solutions.”

Mercury product availability for the Brivo OnAir system is set for summer of 2017.
