FloorSecure™ from Chem Link is a polyether-based, isocyanate-free, multi-surface wood and tile adhesive. This single-component product is easy to apply and is designed for installation of wood and laminated substrates (e.g., bamboo, cork, marble, stone, solid hardwood flooring), even when damp.
Light tan in color, FloorSecure’s 100% solids, solvent-free formulation means it has low odor, low VOCs, and no chemicals restricted by California Proposition 65. This makes it suitable for use in sensitive occupied structures like schools and hospitals. It also means FloorSecure will not shrink due to solvent evaporation (no visible shrinkage after 14 days), maximizing coverage per unit and ensuring the product won’t become brittle or cracked over time.
“We are committed to providing contractors with compliant adhesive options that can be used just about anywhere, but do not sacrifice performance,” said Jeff Piotrowicz, product manager, Chem Link. “Being solvent-free not only means FloorSecure is an environmentally and occupant-friendly choice, but one that ultimately saves contractors money by staying flexible and not shrinking over time reducing the number of call backs due to adhesion failure.”
FloorSecure has a tensile strength of 80 psi to 100 psi and a service temperature of -40°F to 200°F. It typically has a 20 to 30 minute working time with light foot traffic allowable in two to four hours and normal traffic in 24 hours. Lower temperatures and low humidity lengthen the cure time. High temperatures and humidity accelerate the cure time. The adhesive is packaged in 3.5 gallon pails (36 pails/pallet) with 2 gallon and 5 gallon pails or 50 gallon drums available by special order. Wet sealant can be removed using a solvent such as alcohol. Cured FloorSecure can be removed by abrading or scraping the substrate.
FloorSecure conforms to the OTC Rule for Sealants and USDA Requirements for Non-food Contact, is OSHA compliant, and is environmentally compliant throughout the United States. It eliminates chronic exposure hazards associated with conventional solvent release adhesives and contains no carcinogens or mutagens.
