How do engineers make a world of difference in the world around us? The National Building Museum in Washington, DC–in conjunction with the National Engineers Week Foundation–is spotlighting the contributions of these amazing professionals.

On Saturday, February 18, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, the National Building Museum will welcome families, scout groups, and all curious visitors to this fascinating festival. Meet engineers and discover how they turn their ideas into reality through engaging hands-on activities and demonstrations. Young visitors will also enjoy a special appearance by Digit from the PBS animated kids’ series Cyberchase.

This free, one-day festival, held rain or shine, will give young people the opportunity to explore engineering through a variety of other hands-on activities and cool educational demonstrations. Future engineers can build a dam, make slime, create paper helicopters, build scale-model railroad bridges, conduct science experiments, build a bridge that supports $10 worth of pennies to win a prize, discover what makes an object “flink” (neither float nor sink), meet professional engineers, watch the US FIRST student-designed robots compete, and talk to astronauts at the International Space Station in real time!

Most appropriate for children ages 5-13. Drop-in program. Scouts and large groups should register with the Family Programs Coordinator at 202.272.2448, X5213 or family@nbm.org
