Eaton SPC Surge Protector Series

The SPC Series is a line of configurable surge protectors for safe, robust protection of critical equipment.

The SPC Series from Eaton is a line of ULT 1449 4th Edition-certified configurable surge protector devices. RoHS compliant, they provide safe, robust protection for critical equipment in commercial and light industrial environments.

surge protectorSurge events have the potential to wreak havoc on inadequately protected facilities and disrupt, damage, or destroy sensitive microprocessor-based devices. These surge events can also cause premature aging of equipment, process interruptions, and catastrophic failures, resulting in business downtime and potential lost revenue for organizations of all sizes.

The SPC Series NEMA 4X enclosure is compact and corrosion-resistant with supplied mounting feet. This lends itself to installation in a variety of environments. It can be configured to protect most electrical applications, including service entrances, distribution panel boards, and point-of-use applications, as well as other critical use cases. There are two enclosure sizes, P1 and P2, dependent on the voltage code and surge rating configuration. The SPC Series can be close-coupled to distribution equipment, keeping the connected lead length short for maximum performance.

The SPC Series features thermally protected metal oxide varistor (MOV) technology, a 20 kA nominal discharge current (ln) rating, and a 200 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR). Devices are factory prewired with 36″ of 10 AWG wire and can be configured to order with eight custom option combinations, including EMI/RFI filtering (providing up to 40 dB
of noise attenuation from 10 kHz to 100 MHz), audible alarm, and Form C relay contacts. There are no user-serviceable parts or items requiring periodic maintenance.

SPC Series surge protector units are available in all common voltages and configurations, and in a variety of peak surge current capacity ratings from 50 kA through 200 kA per phase. Tri-colored protection status indicators show the results of continuous self-diagnostic testing: green for fully protected, yellow for loss of neutral-to-ground protection, and red for loss of protection. Operating and storage temperatures are -40°F to 140°F with an operating humidity of 5% through 95% noncondensing. Operating altitude is up to 6,561′.

A five-year warranty is standard with the SPC Series but it can be extended to 10 years with product registration on the Eaton site.
