EXTECH LIGHTWALL Wall Panel System Glazings

The LIGHTWALL 3440 is available with anti-reflective, infrared-blocking, and anti-graffiti polycarbonate glazing options.

The LIGHTWALL 3440® from Exterior Technologies, Inc. (EXTECH) is an interlocking translucent wall panel system. It is now available with three new polycarbonate glazing options: Anti-Reflective, Infrared-Blocking, and Anti-Graffiti.

wall panel systemThe LIGHTWALL 3440 vertical panels can extend up to 54′ long. Translucent polycarbonate wall panels offer benefits such as energy savings via daylighting, insulating value, and elimination of leak-prone horizontal joints. The LIGHTWALL 3440 provides façade solutions for a range of structures in a range of industries, and has been subjected to a complete battery of air, water, and structural testing to ensure it offers insulation, durability, and weather-tight performance.

The Anti-Reflective polycarbonate glazing is suitable when high-efficient light transmission is paramount for a building’s design. Systems using this UV matte option facilitate a better distribution of light throughout a facility’s interior, while reducing reflections and glare. This option is also suitable for entertainment venues that want to project high-resolution images and lighting effects onto a translucent backdrop.

Infrared (IR) blocking is for when high light levels and solar control are equally important. This polycarbonate glazing has an external surface that filters out unwanted IR and UV waves. EXTECH systems use this material to reduce solar heat gain, ensure comfortable interior temperatures, protect interior finishes from accelerated fading, reduce demand on the HVAC system, and save on electric lighting costs.

The Anti-Graffiti glazing is for when a project is in a high-traffic area and is at risk of damage or vandalism. It can also enhance daylighting systems, is more resistant to natural weathering and typical chemicals, and is easier to clean.

Lightweight and easy to install, LIGHTWALL 3440 does not require framing members within the field of the glazing, which allows for a clean, modern architectural aesthetic. In addition to enhancing a facility’s appearance, this wall panel system meets performance specifications, including high wind loads, impact resistance, fire rating, air infiltration, water penetration, and thermal (0.25 U-Factor) and structural performance. These attributes support energy efficiency and sustainability goals, such as the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® rating systems.

“The diffusing characteristics of the cellular polycarbonate reduces dependence on electric lighting and reduces solar heat gain into the building envelope, as well as reduces light pollution emanating from the building. Because it is a dry-glazed system, VOC emissions also are reduced,” says EXTECH Director of Product Application and Development Kevin Smith, R.A.

LIGHTWALL 3440 also uses highly insulating, 100% recyclable, 40 mm structural cellular polycarbonate and 38.95% recycled aluminum framing manufactured in Pittsburgh.
