Going green one city at a time

Last week, Business Edge News Magazine reported on the first Leed certified condo project: a 67-unit, $20 million mixed use building in North Vancouver, BC. The project only cost 1.7% more than a conventional equivalent, and despite being LEED certified, it does not require residents to change their lifestyles or become inconvenienced in any way.

More important, perhaps, is the news that

the City of Vancouver is “embedding” sustainability in its building regulations, and next year developers will be required to seek LEED certification on all projects. Meanwhile, housing projects in Burnaby, downtown Vancouver and on Victoria’s waterfront are all seeking LEED certification.
