The cities’ public schools are now using compostable round plates designed by the Urban School Food Alliance in their lunchrooms, diverting 19 million polystyrene food service items from landfills.
This certification is administered by Green Business Certification, Inc. (GBCI), which acquired the system from the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council in 2016.
In September 2014, Diamond announced that it had achieved zero manufacturing waste to landfill status, becoming the first American-owned folding carton manufacturer to do so.
