Landscape Forms’ Connect 2.0 Transit Shelter

A minimalist aluminum structure for outdoor spaces with clean lines that coexist with LED technology

The Connect 2.0 transit shelter, the result of a partnership between BMW Group Designworks and Landscape Forms, is a minimalist aluminum structure. It complements surrounding architecture and on- or off-the-grid layered LED lighting elevating an individual’s transportation experience and the brand experience of municipalities and corporate, healthcare, and university campuses.transit shelter

The integrated and layered LED lighting subtly illuminates sidewalks, curbs, and the shelter’s interior and immediate surroundings. Lights can be powered via grid (hard wired) or solar panels. Lighting elements include wayfinding lights, up lights, and down lights. Down lights run the full length of the roof rafter. The lighting temperature of all lit elements is 3500K. The output power will be set to comply with RP8 guidelines for roadway lighting with heavy traffic.

transit shelterThe ADA-compliant transit shelter is available in two sizes (8′ or 12′) that measure 76″ D x 114″ W/L and in multiple tempered glass and open panel configurations. Tempered laminated safety glass, solid aluminum honeycomb panel (solid metal), and capped end aluminum extrusion (louvered metal) roof options create design statements that also address site requirements and climate conditions. The metal is finished with Landscape Forms’ proprietary Pangard II® polyester powder-coat, a hard yet flexible finish that resists rusting, chipping, peeling, and fading.

Connect 2.0 is an addition to the Metro 40 Collection. Metro 40 is a comprehensive collection of streetscape and transit elements developed in partnership with BMW Group Designworks. For over 10 years, the Metro 40 Collection, from shelters and LED lighting to benches, bollards, rails, litter receptacles, and bike racks, has outfitted transit spaces.
