Forest Lighting has introduced new T8 LED linear lamps designed to operate with or without a ballast. The flexibility to operate with or without a ballast makes the new UniV8™ LED line well-suited for facility retrofit applications where fluorescent systems are being upgraded to save energy and maintenance costs.
Facilities can decide to employ the existing ballast with no rewiring, or to install directly without a ballast. At four feet long, UniV8 is available in two wattages (15 W and 19W) and four color temperatures (3500K, 4100K, 5000K, and 6000K). The CRI is >80 RA, and the efficacy is up to 115 lumens per watt. The rated life is 50,000 hours.
The new UniV8 LED lamps are UL Listed, NSF Certified, and DLC Certified — a requirement for obtaining rebates from utilities and municipalities. Forest Lighting LED products are also RoHS compliant.
As of December 2015, ballasts from the following companies have been certified compatible with the UniV8 LED lamps: Philips Advance, Fulham Co., Inc., Universal Lighting Technologies, General Electric, and OSRAM SYLVANIA. (Ballasts that do not appear on this list might still be compatible but have not been tested.)
