OSHAKits.com Body Fluid Spill Kits Videos

OSHAKits.com released two new videos detailing the purposefully sequential steps to take when using the company’s body fluid spill kits.

OSHAKits.com has unveiled two new videos detailing the purposefully sequential steps to take when using the company’s body fluid spill kits. The five-minute videos thoroughly demonstrate safe and complete cleanup of a body fluid spill incident and aim to instill confidence in individuals charged with reducing the risk caused by norovirus and other bugs. An OSHAKits.com team member performs all the necessary steps, many in real time for maximum real-world relevance.body fluid spill

The two kits featured in the videos are the company’s reusable double-pack kit and the fully disposable eco-friendly kit consisting of 83% biodegradable or recycled materials. Both kits include everything customers need to be proactive about body fluid spill episodes. Both kits also contain a single-use bottle of PURELL® Foodservice Surface Sanitizer, which is formulated to kill norovirus, salmonella, and E. coli in 30 seconds. The refillable kit features two complete kits in a convenient plastic case and includes a plastic scraper and scoop. Its video can be viewed here. The eco-friendly kit is housed in a heavy-duty cardboard box that doubles as a dustpan and includes a cardboard scraper and mops. Its video can be viewed here.

“We created these videos in direct response to customer feedback that they wanted instructions that went beyond the printed page,” said Owen Griffin, business development manager at OSHAKits.com. “They are perfect for a fast-paced environment: clear, easy to follow, and promoting safe and effective cleanup of spills. Our ultimate goal is to protect employees and customers, and these new videos are an important way of following through on that commitment.”

OSHAKits.com customers get complete access to the videos, including co-branding opportunities to seamlessly integrate them into employee onboarding. Videos can also be uploaded to company intranets and linked to employee-facing communication via QR code.

Each kit complies with state and local food safety requirements for written procedures and specific actions for cleaning up body fluid spills (2013 US Food Code 2-501.11) and the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030). In addition to cleaning tools and PURELL Foodservice Surface Sanitizer, both kits also include personal protective equipment (PPE) and a non-leaching solidifying agent to make cleanup easier.

Out of the 3,000 EPA-registered surface disinfectants and sanitizers, less than 100 have the agency’s Category IV rating, which means they contain no harsh chemicals and have no warning labels on the bottle. Of those, less than 10 have the EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) Certification. PURELL Foodservice Surface Sanitizer has received the EPA’s Category IV rating and, with its 30-second kill time, has the fastest overall disinfection times for bacteria and viruses of any DfE product.

Most state health agencies require any establishment that serves or sells food—even sealed, prepackaged items like snacks and sodas—to have a protocol in place for cleaning up biohazard events like vomit, blood, and human waste. With its easy-to-follow instructions and complete, self-contained kit, OSHAKits.com is protocol in a box.
