The necessity for insurance is common knowledge. However, it sometimes takes a catastrophic event to truly understand the importance of proper coverage. Take a look at this story from The Herald Dispatch:

“The Morgan County Courthouse was insured for $2 million. After it was destroyed by fire last month, county officials learned that replacing the 98-year-old building will cost somewhere around $12 million.

What happened in Morgan County is a wakeup call for all levels of government that own buildings. According to The Associated Press, the remaining 54 county courthouses in West Virginia are insured from anywhere as high as $14 million in Logan County to $557,000 in Summers County.”
