The Roofing Alliance, the foundation of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) has announced its adoption of the roofs of 165 stand-alone Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the United States. Roofing Alliance and NRCA contractors have committed to adopting one or more roofs offering inspections, repairs, and maintenance services for Ronald McDonald House roofs.Ronald McDonald House

A safe, watertight roof is essential for these homes where Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) is helping families with sick children across the country by keeping them together and close to the medical care they need. Ronald McDonald Houses provide private sleeping rooms, meals, and opportunities for families to interact as they go through difficult times.

With 168 members, the Roofing Alliance is the foundation for the National Roofing Contractors Association and is a dedicated forum of roofing contractors, manufacturers, distributors, service providers, and industry professionals. These roofing men and women promote and fund the advancement of roofing through research, education, technology, and philanthropic initiatives.

In April of 2017, the Roofing Alliance with the focused efforts of Rod Petrick, Charles Antis, and many more Roofing Alliance members and staff began working with Ronald McDonald House Charities to create a partnership that would connect the roofing industry with the stand-alone Ronald McDonald Houses to provide ongoing roof maintenance.

Through sponsorship funds and the adoption of the roofs of the 165 stand-alone Ronald McDonald Houses in the U.S., the Roofing Alliance has brought together roofing professionals and companies who donate their time and talents to provide regular roof system inspections, maintenance, and repairs.

The initiative began with a full audit and data collection on all 165 houses. “Our Roofing Alliance and NRCA members have collected data on the houses so we can help them with their roof replacement plans,” said Rod Petrick, owner of Ridgeworth Roofing, Frankfort, IL and Immediate Former President of the Roofing Alliance. “Our contractors inspect the roofs and report back to us on the condition of the roof, the roofing system currently in place, the estimated life expectancy, anticipated and actual work to be done, and the dollar value of the in-kind labor and materials provided or available. This information is entered in our database (donated by Roofing Alliance member, Dataforma) and we have established a baseline of roof conditions and aerial imagery of the house (donated by EagleView Technologies) so we can help each Ronald McDonald House develop roof maintenance and replacement plans across the country.”

The partnership between RMHC and the roofing industry is a first for the organization. “We are grateful to our tremendous partners at The Roofing Alliance and astounded by the collaboration of the industry to support 165 Houses across the country,” said Sheila Musolino, president and CEO, RMHC. “On behalf of the entire RMHC system and the children and families we serve, we thank you for your immense support.”
