Schindler Elevators In Salesforce Tower

The company’s elevators in this San Francisco high-rise are equipped with technology that will shut the equipment down if an earthquake of more than 3 on the Richter scale is detected.

In April 2019, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) named the Salesforce Tower in San Francisco the “Best Tall Building Worldwide” at its 2019 Tall + Urban Innovation Conference. The award recognizes projects that have made innovative contributions to the advancement of the urban environment and tall buildings. The 61-story building is outfitted with earthquake safety measures, and the elevators chosen are an element of this approach.

Schindler, a leading provider of elevators, escalators, and moving walks around the world, is proud to be involved in the project, providing Salesforce Tower with 34 elevators. Each Schindler Elevator is equipped with Schindler Ahead technology and sensors that will shut down the equipment if they detect an earthquake of more than 3 on the Richter scale.

“The iconic Salesforce Tower is a symbol of redevelopment in the San Francisco Transbay neighborhood. Schindler’s innovative approach to mobility enabled our success in this significant project,” said Brian Cave, general manager at Schindler Elevator Corporation. “This project is another important display of Schindler’s commitment to smart vertical transportation, with a focus on efficiency and sustainability.”
