Eight Ruskin® hurricane and wind-driven rain louvers are now Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) listed. This means the louver assemblies satisfy the TDI criteria for protection from windborne debris in both the Texas 120 mph Inland I zone and the 130 mph Seaward zone.
The eight Ruskin louvers listed by the TDI include the EME420MD, EME520MD, ELF6375DXD (pictured), ELC6375DXD, EME6625D, HZ850, PHB637HDXD, and PHB6625D. As part of the TDI listing process, the louvers were evaluated for compliance with wind loads specified in the International Residential Code (IRC) and the International Building Code (IBC).
Ruskin hurricane and wind-driven rain louvers hold up under pressure in severe weather events by preventing and minimizing wind and rain damage. The impact resistant louvers are built to withstand up to 160 psf windloads and nearly 9″ per hour rainfalls on various products. Additionally, they were the first louvers in the industry to gain approval in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
The EME420MD and EME520MD are wind driven rain resistant stationary louvers designed to withstand up to ±120 psf windload, Missile impact resistant, they provide AMCA Class A wind driven rain resistance and are approved for use in open structures with provisions to manage weather infiltration. The EME520MD also utilizes Ruskin’s UFF Universal Flange Frame system for easy installation in most any kind of wall construction.
The ELF6375DXD stationary louver has a 37½° blade angle, a 6″ deep frame, and a frame system with drainable head that collects and removes water to provide water penetration performance. The EME6625D stationary louver has vertical blades, a 6″ deep frame, and is listed for AMCA 550 High Velocity Wind Driven Rain for Hurricane Prone Regions and AMCA 540 Enhanced Impact Resistance for Windborne Debris Regions. The HZ850 wind driven rain louver has 31% free area and a two-piece blade design that provides protection from wind driven rain penetration, reducing damage and additional operating expenses. Both the ELF6375DXD and HZ850 offer aluminum construction for low maintenance and high resistance to corrosion.
Approved for use in all of Florida, including the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ), the ELC6375DXD combination louver combines drainable stationary blades and operable airfoil damper blades in a single 6″ deep frame. It can be used in both open and closed structures with provisions to manage weather infiltration and features ±110 psf windload, blade and jamb seals, and 44% free area.
The PHB637HDXD and PHB6625D Hurricane Penthouses offer front installation (no cables) and a hinged roof. They are approved for use in open structures with provisions to manage weather infiltration and have a maximum design windload of +110 psf.
As part of its commitment to quality, Ruskin covers all its products, including the hurricane and wind-driven rain louvers, with a limited five-year warranty from the date of delivery.
