The goal of the event and others today is to promote facility management's ideals worldwide, not only within the profession and industry, but also among governments and the general public.

Many questions were tackled at the 11th Global FM International Workshop held alongside the Th!nk FM conference earlier this month in Nottingham, UK.

Global FM held its 10th International Workshop in Atlanta, GA. Entitled “Managing FM Across Borders,” the event took place one day prior to IFMA's World Workplace in Atlanta, GA.

Teena G. Shouse, CFM, IFMA Fellow, is now the new chairperson of Global FM. She and the new board will unite efforts to accomplish the objectives and activities planned for 2011, making sure Global FM continues to grow and to live up to its mission: to promote the strategic value and progress of facilities management.

The affiliation agreement is the result of several months of discussions and exchange of information and ideas between both associations.

The Awards recognize efforts by individuals or teams within the FM industry — from researchers to facilities operators — who have made a positive contribution to the knowledge, practical application and communication of strategies to improve the workplace environment.

Global FM member organizations on five different continents will celebrate World FM Day by organizing events such as luncheons, seminars, and workshops, or by undertaking any other activity to celebrate and promote facilities management.
