Spot-r from Triax Technologies, Inc. is a wearable sensor technology for construction site safety. This Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled technology provides real-time, data-driven visibility into the challenging construction site environment. It powers worksite connectivity and helps to improve worker safety, reduce incident response times, and enable general contractors to better manage projects and labor productivity.
Spot-r includes low-footprint network hardware that is installed and maintained by Triax technicians and wearable sensors that clip onto a worker’s belt, enabling them to receive and send alerts in real-time. The rugged, lightweight, networked sensors provide location visibility and keep users informed of construction site safety incidents as they occur. If a worker slips, trips, or falls on site, the spot-r alerts the safety supervisor automatically and provides the worker’s general location within worksite zones so help can arrive quickly. It also logs key data for insurers on when and where incidents occur. In addition, spot-r’s self alert button gives users the ability to notify supervisors of hazards or incidents without having to leave the work area.

Spot-r operates on a closed, secure mesh network that cuts through steel and concrete and clocks workers on the job site automatically. There is no GPS or offsite monitoring. Upon leaving the work zone the sensor disconnects from the site’s network and enters sleep mode. The wearable system for construction site safety also has a one-year battery life without charging. Aggregate historical hours enable companies to leverage data to increase productivity, estimate future project time frames, and anticipate the number of workers required for more accurate bids.
