At the Autodesk University event in Las Vegas this week, Autodesk users and other relevant industry members converged for the 23rd annual event. As the company put it, these events — held around the world throughout the year — have evolved from an opportunity to share Autodesk software tips and tricks to featuring thought leadership, case studies, roundtable discussions, and more.
Facility Executive collaborated with one of the event’s exhibitors, IMAGINiT Technologies, to ask one of the company’s representatives about BIM for facility management.
In the video below, a company representative addresses a few questions posed by Facility Executive about BIM for FM.
Through software and implementation expertise, IMAGINiT (a division of Rand Worldwide) serves the needs of architects and engineers as they design, develop, and manage projects in the building, infrastructure, manufacturing and facilities management industries. IMAGINiT’s Facility Management (FM) team consults on a variety of FM needs, including converting CAD data to BIM, developing a BIM Guideline, and connecting BIM to FM.
One of the questions in this video addresses the National BIM Standard-United States (NBIMS-US) Version 3, released in July 2015 by buildingSMART alliance® (a council of the National Institute of Building Sciences). NBIM-US is a consensus-based standard governing BIM and covers the full life cycle of buildings. In more recent development, in October 2015, NIBS announced it is working on the development of a new guideline to help building owners, their design teams, and facility managers use BIM during the building design, construction, and operations process and to better support performance requirements.
