OSHA To Kick Off Safe + Sound Week

Over 200 organizations and businesses will partner with OSHA to promote the importance of workplace safety and health programs August 13-19.

Implementing a safety and health program is one of the most effective ways to reduce injuries and illnesses, and improve business. Effective workplace safety and health programs can increase worker satisfaction, improve productivity, and reduce costs associated with on-the-job injuries.

workplace safetyWith this in mind, OSHA is encouraging Americans to commit to workplace safety and health by participating in Safe + Sound Week, August 13-19, 2018. The nationwide event was created to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to help ensure these conditions for America’s working men and women by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education and assistance.
