New Product Flash: UltraDuty GHS Chemical Labels From Avery

As end-users, facility managers have until June 1, 2016 to have chemicals in their facilities properly labeled according to the OSHA-mandated Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals.

Avery Products Corporation recently introduced its UltraDutyâ„¢ GHS Chemical Labels, a line of heavy-duty industrial labels designed to help organizations comply with the OSHA-mandated Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). The United Nations created the GHS to standardize and harmonize the classification and labeling of hazardous chemicals around the world.GHS

As defined by OSHA, end-users of chemicals should update workplace labels by June 1, 2016.

Meanwhile, chemical producers in the U.S. should have been using GHS labels as of June 1, 2015, while distributors have until December 1, 2015.

GHSAvery UltraDutyâ„¢ GHS Chemical Labels are designed to withstand chemicals, abrasion, sun, water, tearing, and extreme temperatures. The labels adhere to metal, plastic, painted surfaces, fiber, polycarbonate, and glass. These are available in a variety of sizes to identify hazardous materials in containers such as drums, totes, pails, jugs, and bottles.

Facility management teams can create and print on demand the GHS and workplace safety labels they need using free templates and software from Avery. The Avery® GHS Wizard software guides users through the process of creating a GHS label including compliant GHS pictograms and statements. Labels can be customized with a company logo, barcode, lot numbers, and other needed information.
