Michael Gordon, founder and president of ConsumerPowerline, has won the 2006 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® Award for the New York Metro Region’s emerging business category. ConsumerPowerline is an energy asset management firm located in New York City that helps commercial and industrial energy users strategically reduce consumption while generating newfound revenue for its larger consumer clients.

Gordon has participated in the The TFM Show as a speaker, presenting “Optimizing Energy Costs” during the 2006 TFM Show this past April in Chicago, IL.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program recognizes leaders and visionaries who are creating and building world-class businesses. Awards are given to entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Previous Entrepreneur Of The Year winners include: Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com; Pierre Omidyar of eBay, Inc.; Sergey Brin and Larry Page of Google, Inc.; Howard Schultz of Starbucks Corp.; Catherine L. Hughes and Alfred Liggins of Radio One; and Jim McCann of 1-800-Flowers.com.

“It’s very gratifying to be mentioned in the company of such innovative business leaders, who through their vision and commitment have created not just new markets, but empowering opportunities for consumers,” said Gordon. “Ernst & Young’s recognition of ConsumerPowerline reinforces our vision that by transferring power from energy providers to large energy users–helping companies reduce and strategically manage their energy consumption–we not only generate millions in new revenue for our clients, but also create a paradigm shift in the local and regional energy markets. By creating more equity, efficiency and value for the energy consumer, we also hope to contribute toward a more sound energy future.”

ConsumerPowerline works in New York, California and throughout New England with some of the nation’s leading commercial, residential and industrial property owners including Starwood Hotels, Macy’s, CB Richard Ellis and the state of Massachusetts to manage their participation in the local electricity markets, and has helped its clients turn their energy consumption into a recurring revenue source. ConsumerPowerline offers its clients a broad array of services, including: tax savings; energy curtailment; engineering; demand response; and, steam monitoring and management.
