UG2 Awarded IFM Contract For Cornell Tech Campus

Cornell University announces a multi-year agreement with UG2 for integrated facility management (IFM) services at its new Cornell Tech Campus in NYC.

Cornell Tech, the new technology-focused campus of Cornell University located in New York City, recently announced its has contracted with UG2, a provider of integrated facility management services. Built for the digital age and bringing together academia and industry, Cornell Tech is a research and graduate-level education institution offering programs at the masters, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels with extensive industry engagement.integrated facility management

The first phase of the Roosevelt Island campus opened in September 2017 and features some of the most environmentally friendly and energy-efficient buildings in the world. From 2012-2017, the campus was temporarily located in Google’s New York City building.

Facility management in an academic environment is a complex and multi-faceted function. UG2’s formalized processes supported by its strong management systems, experience, and intense dedication to consistency, set them apart from the competition. UG2’s portfolio of integrated facility management services will help Cornell Tech stay ahead of the shifting demands and technology advancements.

“UG2 is holistically aligned with Cornell Tech in this journey of creating the next generation of excellence in Integrated Facility Management and Solutions and supporting LEED, Net Zero and Passive House principles to optimize sustainability and minimize carbon footprint,” said UG2’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, Louis J. Lanzillo. “We believe that technology is the battlefield of competitive advantage in the 21st century and there is no better showcase or example than our partnership at Cornell Tech. We are also proud of our partnerships with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 94 for the engineering staff and SEIU 32BJ for the janitorial staff at the campus.”

Lanzillo, who founded UG2 in 2012, is the former president and vice chairman of UNICCO Service Company and former chief executive officer for the Americas and Europe for United Group Limited.

Floyd Young, senior director of facilities operations for Cornell Tech, said, “Looking to the future, UG2’s role is to support Cornell Tech’s Facilities Operations long-term strategic plan by continually reengineering ourselves to operate at the right cost while providing seamless service solutions and anticipating evolving needs in quality of life. The scope of services UG2 will provide took effect in July 2017, services provided under the contract include: Plant Operations and Maintenance Management Services Program, Grounds and Landscaping Management Services Program, Custodial and Housekeeping Management Services Program, Campus LEED Management Services Program and Support Services Program.”

In Fall 2017, 30 world-class faculty and about 300 graduate students moved to the first phase of Cornell Tech’s permanent campus on Roosevelt Island. When complete, the 12-acre campus will include two million square feet of facility space, over two acres of open space, and will be home to more than 2,000 graduate students and hundreds of faculty and staff.
