Slim Fire Extinguishers From Oval Brand Fire Products

The three models from Oval Fire are ADA compliant, and do not protrude more than 4"four from a surface when properly mounted.

It can be challenging to position traditional five-pound or 10-pound portable fire extinguishers, so that these don’t interrupt the design flow of a building while remaining compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and building codes. To address this issue for facility management and their partners in building design and safety, Oval Brand Fire Products has introduced its new lineup of slim fire extinguishers.

Oval Brand fire extinguishers are the slimmest 10-pound, ABC, and Purple K dry-chemical fire extinguishers on the market. These are compliant with protruding object laws, never protruding more than 4″four from a surface when properly mounted, installed in accordance with NFPA 10. Its lineup of 10-pound dry chemical fire extinguishers are listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (UL Canada).ADA

“We believe that we have solved a number of problems that have been associated with fire extinguishers for many years and we are very excited to introduce this line of slender fire extinguishers now that we have UL and ULC listings for our first three models,” says Kevin Kozlowski, president of Oval Brand Fire Products. “Speaking as a former construction manager, the elegant and efficient design makes for a much better solution for architects, designers, building owners, and operators. In addition, at less than three-and-a-half inches deep, they’re always ADA- and local building code-compliant when mounted directly to interior walls and columns.”

Three models comprise Oval Brand Fire Products’ initial fire extinguisher lineup: two 10-pound ABC dry-chemical versions (Models 10JABC and 10HABC) and a 10-pound Purple K dry-chemical version (Model 10HPKP).

In addition, Oval Brand designed its patent-pending fire extinguisher mounting hook to do more than simply mount the extinguisher to the wall or building column. It also helps prevent surface-mounted fire extinguishers from falling to the floor, which can cause personal injury and damage the fire extinguisher.

The United States Patent Office awarded Oval Brand Fire Products U.S. Patent Nos. 9,364,696, D760,443, and D760,444 for Oval Brand’s innovative fire extinguisher designs. Oval Brand’s mounting hook is patent pending.

  1. So many fire extinguishers in big-box stores are violating the ADA. Come on people, this has been the law for over 25 years! Thank goodness for Oval.
