Entry™ is a deicing and anti-icing fluid. It is a product of Branch Creek, a division of SynaTek Solutions and is offered through Secure Winter Products. This chloride-free and urea-free, biodegradable solution quickly and reliably removes thin layers of ice and prevents new snow and ice from accumulating.
Entry is a blend of Potassium Formate and a proprietary adjuvant formulation designed to optimize every spray droplet into a shape that is capable of breaking through the ice lattice. Additionally, Entry’s proprietary formulation is designed to reduce corrosion, tracking, and balance pH.
Entry’s formulation lowers the freezing point of water to as low as -63°F for an increased level of protection against re-freeze. And because it’s a liquid, Entry penetrates snow and ice on contact; users can see it work in 15 to 30 seconds. Unlike other deicing agents, Entry is readily biodegradable and does not contain chlorides that can damage ecosystems and cause tracking in buildings that can permanently damage carpeting and floors. The low Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) minimizes oxygen depletion of surrounding soil and surface water.
“The majority of slipping accidents happen within 15′ of a building’s entrance,” said Nate Clemmer, CEO of Secure Winter Products. “Entry is our response to the need for ice melt technologies that balance the demands of human safety with an awareness of the impact these products can have on the environment.”
Indoors, the non-chloride-based ice melt does not become sticky or slippery, and eliminates chloride residue and granular tracking on carpeting and flooring, reducing near-term labor costs associated with manual cleaning. The International Sanitary Supply Association’s Clean Management Institute estimated that the cost of such cleaning is $50 per entrance per day.
“The low quantity of liquid required to produce an adequate melt combined with the ease and speed of application makes Entry more cost effective than most granular products, too,” Clemmer added. “Most users will achieve a lower application cost per 1,000 square feet with liquids than with granular deicers. And, because the liquid achieves a melt three times more quickly than granular products, it creates a longer-lasting and safer walking surface.”
